Free media law workshop sponsored by the Law Society of B.C. and the Jack Webster Foundation

The Law Society of B.C. and the Jack Webster Foundation are pleased to present their third annual media law workshop and dinner. This year's topic is Court Files, Confidential Sources and Libel Decisions. This workshop is offered free to journalists, editors and news directors in B.C.

Date: November 5, 2003
Time: 6:45 pm to 10:00 pm
Where: The Law Courts Inn, 800 Smithe St., Vancouver

Workshop panellists include:

  • Rick Ouston, Convergence Editor, Vancouver Sun

  • David Sutherland, Barrister and Solicitor, Sutherland and Associates in Vancouver, counsel for the BC and Yukon Community Newspapers Association

  • Pat Nagle, former City Editor of the Vancouver Sun, Bruce Hutchison Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Law Society of BC Lay Bencher

  • Nick Russell, former head of the VCC journalism program and professor of journalism at the University of Regina, author Morals and the Media

  • Robert Breivik, Barrister and Solicitor, Breivik and Co., counsel for Stockwatch Magazine
