Tony Wilson
Tony Wilson was called to the bar in 1986 and practises franchising, licensing and intellectual property law at Boughton in Vancouver. Elected a Bencher in 2011, Wilson is a Vice-chair of Unauthorized Practice Committee, a member of the Practice Standards Committee and Lawyer Education Advisory Committee. He was formerly a member of the Unauthorized Practice Committee.
He is a regular business columnist with the Globe and Mail and has two widely read columns in BarTalk and Canadian Lawyer.
In addition to his columns, he is the author of Buying a Franchise in Canada: Understanding and Negotiating your Franchise Agreement. He is also the author of Manage Your Online Reputation, a book written to guide individuals and businesses on how to monitor and protect their personal and corporate reputations on social media. He regularly speaks and writes on both areas of law to lawyers and members of the public..
Wilson is an elected member on the Provincial Council of the Canadian Bar Association, is a founding participant in the Boughton-BCLI Great Debate, and is an Adjunct Professor at Simon Fraser University, where he teaches law to graduate students in the MALS program.
