Model Reporting Letter – Wills

[date]

[address]

Dear [client name]:

Re: Your Will

I enclose a copy of your will, which you signed at my office on [date]. I confirm that you have placed the original will in your safety deposit box at [location]. I have filed a wills notice with the Division of Vital Statistics confirming that you have made a will, and giving details of the date and location of the will.

You should review your will at least every two years, or whenever there has been a change in your personal or financial circumstances. For examples, marriage will automatically revoke a will, and divorce may affect the validity of certain provisions of your will. Additionally, there may be changes to the existing law that make revising your will necessary.

We ask you to review your will periodically to make sure that it remains appropriate to your circumstances and up-to-date with the law. Neither I nor my firm can assume this responsibility, but look forward to assisting you with any changes required in the future.

Thank you for referring this matter to me. I look forward to continuing to be of service to you.

Yours truly,

[law firm]
