Although Part A of the policy provides broad coverage for lawyers' negligent errors and omissions, lawyers may wonder whether an activity or practice in certain circumstances is covered by the insurance policy.

The Lawyers Insurance Fund responds to a variety of questions regarding coverage, and often provides "advance rulings" on coverage under the policy. Lawyers will find in this section information about:

the policy's business and benefit exclusion (PDF: 273 KB),
insurance coverage for:

i.		acting as trustees or executors or in other similar fiduciary capacities;
ii.		acting as mediators or arbitrators,
iii.		pro bono services (PDF: 132 KB);
iv.		services provided outside BC (the practice of law in or of another jurisdiction);

insurance for lawyers no longer in private practice, including retired lawyers;
insurance issues for employed and dependent contract lawyers in the private sector; and
the part-time insurance discount.
