Vancouver – Today the Law Society of BC took swift action in the case of Malcolm Hassan Zoraik, the Victoria lawyer convicted on June 14, 2010 of fabricating evidence and public mischief, in relation to the writing and delivering of a letter to the Supreme Court in Victoria, BC on May 6, 2009.

“We have moved quickly to ensure the public is protected. Effective immediately, Zoraik is not permitted to practise law pending the conclusion of our discipline process,” explained Stuart Cameron, the Law Society’s Director of Investigations.

The Law Society has arranged for Victoria lawyer Brock Emberton to manage Zoraik’s practice so that his clients will have continuous access to the legal services they require. Clients of Zoraik can contact Emberton at 250-391-7777 for assistance.

The Law Society of BC is the governing body of the legal profession in the province. Under the provisions of the Legal Profession Act, the Law Society is responsible for the licensing, professional conduct and discipline of the more than 10,000 lawyers in BC.
