BC lawyers and articled students are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Law Society, which will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.
Business
The business of the AGM will include the following:
- Election of Second Vice-President for 2019;
- Appointment of Law Society auditors for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2018; and
- Consideration of resolutions, including any member resolutions submitted under Law Society Rule 1-8(6).
Electronic participation
Electronic participation at AGMs has been implemented progressively over the last three years, starting in 2015 with webcasting, followed by electronic distribution of materials in 2016 and electronic voting at the 2017 AGM. Participation in the 2018 AGM will be in person at the locations noted above or electronically through the Law Society website. More information will be provided with the second notice and posted to the Law Society website.
Member resolutions
To be considered at the 2018 AGM, any resolutions must be submitted in writing, signed by two members in good standing and received by the Executive Director no later than 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 20 (Rule 1-8(6)).
