UPDATED MARCH 27, 2019: Suspension to commence June 6, 2019

A hearing panel of the Law Society of British Columbia has ordered that Surrey lawyer Pir Indar Paul Singh Sahota be suspended for professional misconduct and be prohibited from engaging in real estate transactions. The panel ordered that the 30-day suspension commence June 6.

The Law Society found that Sahota committed professional misconduct by breaching  trust conditions imposed by opposing counsel, failing to respond promptly to opposing counsel, failing to provide sufficient quality of service to his client, failing to properly supervise his staff and breaching trust conditions imposed by a financial institution.

Factors in determining the appropriate disciplinary action included Sahota’s previous conduct record and the fact that the public will be protected by a practice prohibition in real estate law until the Discipline Committee is convinced of his fitness to practise in this field.

Written reasons for the hearing panel’s decision are available on the Law Society website.
