The Law Society, like many organizations, has begun a phased and gradual plan to return employees to our offices. Our plan is in line with recommendations from the Provincial Health Officer and follows guidelines provided by WorkSafeBC. We take the recommendations public health authorities and government seriously. Our number one priority is ensuring the health and safety of the public, members of the legal profession, students, staff and all of our families.
Throughout the pandemic, the Law Society has continued its operations, including receiving and investigating complaints. The Law Society Tribunal has resumed hearing citations and issuing decisions. Performance in each department has been and continues to be monitored closely. Many of our staff have been able to work effectively from home. In some instances where it was necessary to improve effectiveness of service or productivity, accommodations have been made to reduce risk for those who need to work from our office space.
We want to ensure lawyers, the public, and our various stakeholders that the Law Society is closely monitoring COVID-19 announcements and recommendations from health authorities regarding risk and safe practices as we move through the next stages of safe re-opening. Although we are partially back to work in the office, our lobby doors will remain closed to the public until further notice. In the meantime, every aspect of the Law Society functions and programing continues to operate at a high capacity.
