On this international Data Privacy Day, a day to commemorate the first legally binding international treaty to protect privacy and data protection, the Law Society has released a special podcast presentation on privacy and surveillance by Richard Peck, QC. In this episode of our Rule of Law Matters podcast, Peck highlights modern technology’s invasion into our privacy, how it can compromise our freedoms, and how it all relates to the rule of law. Following the presentation, he and host Jon Festinger review how things have changed over the past year, whether things are better or worse, and whether controlling the spread of COVID-19 is a good reason to compromise our privacy.
