Vancouver – The Law Society of BC has launched an investigation into lawyer Terrence Robertson, following Robertson’s resignation as the special prosecutor assessing allegations of financial irregularities in former BC solicitor general Kash Heed's May 2009 election campaign.

The Society’s investigation was launched in response to allegations, including Robertson’s letter of resignation and media reports that Robertson’s firm donated $1,000 to Heed's campaign. Law Society investigators will ascertain whether there has been any professional misconduct on the part of Robertson that may warrant action by the Law Society.

“We need to investigate fully and fairly and we will do so,” said Stuart Cameron, the Law Society’s Director of Investigations. “As always, our primary concern is the protection of the public interest.”

Once the investigation is complete, the Society will report the result.

The Law Society of BC is the governing body of the legal profession in the province. Under the provisions of the Legal Profession Act, the Law Society is responsible for the licensing, professional conduct and discipline of the more than 10,000 lawyers in BC.
