Vancouver – A Law Society hearing panel has suspended lawyer Milan Matt Uzelac for six weeks and ordered him to pay $2,000 in costs.

Uzelac was cited on July 16, 2012 for failing to represent a client in a conscientious, diligent and efficient manner during a mortgage transaction.

At the hearing on January 30, 2013 Uzelac admitted his behaviour constituted professional misconduct and the panel agreed to disciplinary action in the form of a six-week suspension. The suspension begins March 1, 2013 and ends April 15, 2013. Costs of $2,000 must be paid by April 30, 2013.

The panel’s decision can be found by searching the decisions database.

The Law Society of British Columbia regulates the more than 10,000 lawyers in the province, setting and enforcing standards of professional conduct that ensure the public is well-served by a competent, honourable legal profession.
