Vancouver – A Kelowna lawyer has been suspended for three months for failing to respond to communication related to an investigation and for failing to comply with provisions in a 2007 Law Society review panel order. Douglas W. Welder has also been ordered to pay costs of $2,500.

This is the second time in two years Welder has been suspended. He was suspended for 45 days in October 2011 days for his deliberate and prolonged failure to cooperate with Law Society investigators during an investigation.

The Law Society of British Columbia regulates the more than 10,000 lawyers in the province, setting and enforcing standards of professional conduct that ensure the public is well-served by a competent, honourable legal profession.
