Vancouver, November 8, 2016 – The Law Society of British Columbia today determined that it will seek leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada the recent decision of the British Columbia Court of Appeal in Trinity Western University v. The Law Society of British Columbia.

Law Society President David Crossin, QC, commented that “The Law Society is of the view that this is a matter of national significance.”

The Law Society of British Columbia upholds and protects the public interest in the administration of justice by ensuring the independence, integrity and competence of lawyers, establishing education and professional development standards for lawyers, regulating the practice of law and preserving and protecting the rights and freedoms of all persons.
