November 17, 2017

Vancouver, November 17, 2017 – The Law Society of British Columbia is suspending lawyer William T. Faminoff of Vancouver for professional misconduct. Faminoff's two-month suspension will commence on November 20, 2017 and comes following the Court of Appeal’s confirmation of hearing panel and review board decisions on appropriate disciplinary action in this case.

Written reasons for the hearing panel decision are available here, and written reasons for the review board decision are available here. Written reasons of the Court of Appeal decision can be found here.

The Law Society regulates the more than 11,000 practising lawyers in the province. It does so by setting standards of professional responsibility for BC lawyers and articled students, and by upholding those standards through a complaints and discipline process. These standards and processes are important to maintain public confidence and trust in lawyers, and to ensure the public is well-served by a competent, honourable legal profession.
