Vancouver, August 3, 2018 – A hearing panel of the Law Society of British Columbia has ordered that Whistler lawyer Ian David Reith be suspended for professional misconduct. His 30-day suspension will commence on September 1.

Reith committed professional misconduct between February 2010 and May 2014 by failing to comply with several Law Society rules for trust accounting in his maintenance of a trust account held to facilitate real estate conveyances.

A factor in determining the appropriate disciplinary action was Reith’s prior discipline history. In 2014 and again for a separate matter in 2016, Reith was cited for misconduct relating to his actions while acting for multiple parties in a real estate conveyance. In each case, Reith was required to pay a fine and costs.

Written reasons for the hearing panel’s decision are available on the Law Society website.
