The Law Society is reviewing the reports of Dr. Peter German and the expert panel on money laundering in BC Real Estate, led by Professor Maureen Maloney, that were released by the provincial government.
Both Professor Maloney and Dr. German engaged with the Law Society during the preparation of their reports to understand the efforts the Law Society has made to confront money laundering. As Dr. German notes in his report, “The LSBC is recognized as a best practice among Canadian law societies with respect to AML initiatives. It takes the issue seriously and is willing to work on solutions.”
These number and complexity of issues raised in these important reports require careful consideration, and the Law Society is committed to taking steps to address the recommendations in the reports.
