He will be joined by Don Avison, QC, Executive Director and CEO, to answer your questions and receive your input on priorities and issues to consider as we continue to address the impacts of COVID-19. Mental Health Week video statement from LIF

Stress, anxiety and depression are common in the legal profession, and COVID-19 leaves lawyers even more vulnerable to mental health issues. There are resources available to help. Watch Su Forbes, QC, COO of the Lawyers Indemnity Fund, share the story of one lawyer who suffered from depression and what lawyers can do to prioritize health and mental well-being.

Court of Appeal video recording of an appeal hearing

The Court of Appeal previously announced it would begin to conduct hearings using videoconferencing technology. Today, the court has made available a recording of the proceedings in Trenchard v. Westsea Construction Ltd., which took place using Zoom on Tuesday, May 5. The recording and factums are available here and the terms of use are available here. Supreme Court announcements on pre-trial conferences and insolvency proceedings

The Supreme Court of British Columbia has issued a notice on holding pre-trial conferences by telephone for criminal cases and a notice to remove the requirement to submit draft materials for urgent insolvency matters. Visit the court’s website for a list of all notices relating to COVID-19.
