The Law Society’s governing board of Benchers made history by holding its first meeting virtually. The Benchers conducted their business, including policy decisions and rule changes that respond to the current health pandemic, using interactive video-conferencing technology.

“It was important for the Benchers to meet and make critical decisions that respond to COVID-19 and the legal profession’s ability to provide advice and services in this extraordinary time,” said President Craig Ferris, QC. “The use of video-technology enabled us to meet and hear how the work of the Law Society continues, which I hope will encourage the courts and other regulatory organizations in their efforts.”
