Victoria lawyer Valorie F. Hemminger Long has admitted to conduct unbecoming the profession and consented to be suspended for two weeks, effective August 28, 2021.
Hemminger admitted that on one occasion in 2019, she provided a controlled substance to two members of the public and that this conduct constitutes conduct unbecoming the profession. Hemminger was suffering from a medical condition at the time, and she has acknowledged her wrongdoing and not consumed controlled substances since commencing treatment in 2020.
The Law Society’s Discipline Committee Chair accepted a consent agreement between the Law Society and Hemminger that set out the two-week suspension.
