We, along with the rest of the country, are saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and we extend our condolences to the Royal Family. For more than 70 years, the Queen has been a constant in a changing world. She has served the Commonwealth with grace, dignity and an unwavering devotion to public service. The Queen served through difficult times of war and conflict. She also witnessed constitutional changes in Canada, including the patriation of Canada’s Constitution in 1982. She made more visits to Canada than any other Commonwealth country during her reign.

Lisa Hamilton, KC, president of the Law Society said: "We are saddened by the death of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II but take inspiration from her countless contributions to public life both within the United Kingdom and across the Commonwealth. I wish to extend my deepest condolences to her family."
