"Perspectives on Violence and Risk Management"

Overall Learning Objectives:
1. To identify treatment goals in forensic patients, and to track and record progress.
2. To identify the legal and ethical aspects of decisions around requests for information about
forensic patients.
3. To examine models of risk management in other jurisdictions and consider their applicability to BC.

09.30 - 10.00 Dr. Mark Bodnarchuk – Psychologist Treatment of Youth Offenders: Anger

1. The definition of violence, and the difference between reactive and instrumental violence.
2. The history of the psychological treatment of youth violence, and the empirical efficacy of this treatment.
3. The current approaches to psychological treatment of youth violence are presented and evaluated.
4. The approach used with Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services is reviewed and discussed.
