Citations are authorized by the Law Society of BC's Discipline Committee and list allegations against a lawyer that will be considered at a discipline hearing. Please note that allegations in a citation are unproven until a discipline hearing panel has determined their validity.

Nature of conduct to be inquired into:

1.  Between approximately May 4, 2018 and September 13, 2018, you breached a Law Society interim Order dated March 30, 2017 (the “Order”), contrary to rule 7.1-1(e) of the Code of Professional Conduct for British Columbia, when you, in one or more of the six (6) instances set out in Schedule “A”, handled trust funds or failed to ensure that the funds were deposited into the pooled trust accounts specified in the Order, or both.

This conduct constitutes professional misconduct pursuant to s. 38(4) of the Legal Profession Act.

2.  Between approximately May 4, 2018 and September 13, 2018, you received retainer funds in connection with one or more of the six client matters set out in Schedule “A”, and you did one or both of the following:

(a)  failed to deposit the retainer funds into a pooled trust account, contrary to Rule 3-58 of the Law Society Rules; and

(b)  deposited the retainer funds into your general account prior to rendering a bill for legal services, contrary to one or both of Rule 3-72(3) of the Law Society Rules and section 69 of the Legal Profession Act.

This conduct constitutes professional misconduct or breach of the Act or rules, pursuant to s. 38(4) of the Legal Profession Act.
