Applicant

Decision of the Hearing Panel
on Application for Call and Admission

Hearing date:    November 20, 2006

Panel:    Robert McDiarmid, Q.C., Chair, Rita Andreone, Anna Fung, Q.C.

Counsel for the Law Society:    Herman Van Ommen
Counsel for the Applicant:    Mike Tammen

Background

[1]                  Pursuant to Section 22(3)(b) of the Legal Profession Act, the Panel grants the application, subject to the condition that the Applicant complete the Inns of Court program as soon as practicable; it is not intended that this condition be fulfilled before the Applicant is called, but rather that he enrol in the program and complete it as soon as he can, and confirm in writing to the Law Society that he will commit to so doing - upon receipt of his written confirmation, he is eligible to be called, presumably at the next call ceremony presently scheduled for Friday, December 8, 2006.

[2]                  The Panel orders that the Applicant pay costs of $4,700.00, which is the amount paid as security for costs.
