Unauthorized Practitioner

Gebresellassi, Saron

On September 13, 2024, Madam Justice Sharma pronounced an order by consent that Saron Gebresellassi, a practising lawyer from Ontario, be permanently prohibited from engaging in the practice of law for a fee in British Columbia, and from commencing, prosecuting or defending a proceeding in BC unless acting on her own behalf until she becomes a member in good standing of the Law Society of BC or she obtains a practice permit from the Law Society of BC. The court also ordered that Gebresellassi be permanently prohibited from representing herself as a lawyer or any other title that connotes that she is entitled or qualified to practise law without qualifying that she is an Ontario lawyer who cannot practise law in BC, until she becomes a member in good standing of the Law Society of BC or she obtains an interjurisdictional practice permit from the Law Society of BC.
