Suspensions

February 8, 2001

Kenneth N. Taschuk, of North Vancouver

On February 1 a Bencher review panel, having conducted a review of a discipline penalty pursuant to the Legal Profession Act and Law Society Rules, ordered that Mr. Taschuk be suspended for two months, effective March 1, 2001, and pay a $10,000 fine. Mr. Taschuk had earlier been reprimanded for professional misconduct by a discipline hearing panel, and it was this penalty that was subject to the Bencher review. Other penalties imposed on Mr. Taschuk by the hearing panel respecting practice restrictions, remedial studies and continuing legal education requirements were not subject to the review.*
