Either qualification or transfer examinations are required before being permitted to practise law in BC for:
- Students completing the Professional legal training course (PLTC) portion of the Law Society Admission Program
- Lawyers transferring from other jurisdictions
- Exams assume a base knowledge of general law, but are primarily based on the Practice Material used in the Professional Legal Training Course (PLTC) as well as the Legal Profession Act, the Law Society Rules and the Professional Conduct Handbook.
- Exams are open book.
- Exams consist of short answer essay type questions, multiple choice and some true/false questions.
