Michelle Stanford has been a sole practitioner for the last 19 years, with a focus on criminal defence and administrative law under the BC Review Board. She was called to the bar in 1993 after a nursing career, including as Head Nurse at Vancouver General Hospital in orthopedic-trauma.
Elected a Bencher for 2016, Michelle is a member of the Practice Standards Committee, Unauthorized Practice Committee, Access to Legal Services Advisory Committee and Early Intervention Working Group.
Michelle has guest lectured at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Faculty of Law, TRU School of Nursing and the TRU Respiratory Tech program. She has served as President of the Kamloops Bar Association. Michelle has volunteered with Access Pro Bono, TLABC Legal Action Committee and as a mentor to TRU law students and the CBA Women Lawyers Forum Mentoring Program.
Her community service includes President of the Kamloops Art Gallery and Trustee on the Boards of Regional Health Board in Kamloops and Western Canada Theatre Company.
Michelle enjoys keeping active and keeping track of her even more active teen-aged children.
