Tom Fellhauer is a partner with the law firm Pushor Mitchell LLP in Kelowna. He was called to the bar in 1988 and practised in Vancouver until 1992 when he and his family moved to Kelowna. Tom’s practice consists of tax law, tax appeals, trusts, estate planning, corporate reorganizations, charities and not-for-profit law and planned giving.
Elected as a Bencher for the Okanagan district in 2010, Tom is currently a member of the Executive Committee, Ethics Committee, Finance and Audit Committee and Lawyer Education Advisory Committee. He is a past member of the Discipline Committee, Practice Standards Committee, Act and Rules Committee, Complainants’ Review Committee, Unauthorized Practice Committee and Access to Legal Services Advisory Committee. He has also chaired and participated in numerous disciplinary hearings, review boards, conduct meetings and conduct reviews.
Tom has been a member of the Canadian Bar Association’s Rural Education and Access to Lawyers Advisory Committee since 2010. He is also a presenter for the Okanagan Inns of Court program and a presenter on ethics for the Canadian Bar Association and TRU. Tom was past Chair of the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC and served as a director from 2004 to 2009. He is a chapter author for the CLE Company Law Practice Manual. He is a member of the CBA, the Kelowna Bar Association, the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and is a member and past President of the Kelowna Estate Planning Council.
In the community, Tom is a director of the Kelowna Museums Society and Chair of its Governance Committee, a member of the City of Kelowna Heritage Review Steering Committee. He was past Chair of the Central Okanagan Foundation and served as a director from 1999 to 2011. He has served as a volunteer on the City of Kelowna Grants Committee, and serves as legal counsel for many charities and not-for-profits.
