Inadvertent communications

The following are resources that may be helpful in answering your enquiry. Please familiarize yourself with them before moving on.

In brief: If a lawyer who has access to or comes into possession of a document or e-mail that they have reasonable grounds to believe belongs to or is intended for an opposing party and was not intended for them to see, they have specific obligations in regard to next steps. These next steps can be very specific to the circumstances at hand, so it is always a good idea to talk these questions through with a Practice Advisor.
