Workplace bullying or harassment

The following are resources that may be helpful in answering your enquiry. Please familiarize yourself with them before moving on.

In brief: Lawyers should foster a professional environment that is respectful, accessible, and inclusive; a lawyer engaging in discriminatory or harassing behaviour undermines confidence in the legal profession and our legal system. It is the impact of the behaviour — not the intention behind it — that determines if the behaviour is discriminatory. No one should be expected to work in an environment where they are subject to bullying or harassment.

The Law Society provides the lawyers, articled students, law students, and employees of legal professionals in British Columbia with free, voluntary and confidential services of an Equity Advisor, who can assist with resolving concerns about discrimination, harassment, and bullying. Check out the resources below to learn more and how the Law Society can help.
