Discrimination or harassment

The following are resources that may be helpful in answering your enquiry. Please familiarize yourself with them before moving on.

In brief: Lawyers are expected to respect the dignity and worth of all persons. A lawyer has a special responsibility to respect and uphold the principles and requirements of human rights and workplace health and safety laws, and to stay apprised of developments in the law pertaining to discrimination and harassment, applicable to them. What constitutes discrimination, harassment, and protected grounds continues to evolve over time and may vary by jurisdiction.

The Law Society provides the lawyers, articled students, law students, and employees of legal professionals in British Columbia with free, voluntary and confidential services of an Equity Advisor, who can assist with resolving concerns about discrimination, harassment, and bullying.

Key Resources
