Limited scope retainers

The following are resources that may be helpful in answering your enquiry. Please familiarize yourself with them before moving on.

In brief: A limited scope retainer means the provision of legal services for part, but not all, of a client’s legal matter by agreement with the client. Also known as “unbundling,” the limited retainer involves splitting the usual package of work involved in a matter into discrete tasks. The client retains the lawyer to perform only some of these tasks, and maintains responsibility for the remainder.
