Contract PLTC Instructors - Summer 2024

The Law Society of BC’s Professional Legal Training Course (PLTC) is seeking lawyers with teaching experience to be Instructors for the Summer 2024 sessions of PLTC. The course will be offered fully online.  

The Instructors will be hired as independent contractors and will be paid at a rate of $26,000 for the contract. Instructors will provide instructional services on a full-time basis from May 15, 2024 – August 7, 2024, including:

  • Preparing for and conducting workshop style classes on legal practice, procedure and skills for a PLTC class of up to 22 students, and providing feedback to those students on their exercises and assignments;
  • Grading and marking of assessments and exams as assigned;
  • Participating in panel reviews of failed assessments;
  • Re-marking failed exams and assessments;
  • Attending meetings related to the above.

The Instructors should have:

  • Minimum of five years of recent practice experience in BC.
  • Relevant teaching experience.
  • A desktop or laptop computer with a webcam and microphone (or headset).
  • A reliable internet connection with sufficient bandwidth and connection speed (a minimum of 2-3 Mbps).
