The Senior Infrastructure Technician is responsible for providing timely, effective second and third level technical support to Law Society staff, and for working with other Information Services staff on infrastructure projects that ensure the highest levels of availability, performance, and security of the Law Society’s information technology systems. This role combines hands-on troubleshooting with leading and supporting network infrastructure projects, upgrades, cloud deployments, and vendor-led system implementations.
The duties of this position include:
- Managing, monitoring, and maintaining network and server infrastructure, both on-premise and in the cloud (Microsoft Azure).
- Providing tier 2 and 3 technical support for escalated issues with servers, networks, mobility, VoIP, and cloud services.
- Installing, configuring, testing, optimizing, and maintaining enterprise services including: Windows Server, Exchange, Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune), SQL, Business Central, VMware (ESXi, vCenter, Horizon), and security platforms (Sophos, Darktrace, Arctic Wolf, RSA, SIEM).
- Leading or supporting infrastructure projects such as network upgrades, firewall replacements, VPN implementations, and server migrations, ensuring alignment with business needs.
- Working closely with external vendors and service providers on system deployments, upgrades, and integrations.
- Monitoring and responding to cybersecurity threats and implementing measures to strengthen the security posture.
- Configuring and securing integration of on-premise infrastructure with cloud services (Azure).
- Supporting the development team with environment setup, upgrades, and infrastructure requirements for new applications.
- Researching and resolving complex technical issues escalated from Support Technicians, mentoring tier 1 staff where appropriate.
- Collaborating with colleagues on planning and integrating new technology and services, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
- Providing coverage for other members of the department during absences.
- Performing such other duties as assigned by the Assistant Infrastructure Manager or Manager, Infrastructure Services.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or 7+ years of progressive computer and network support experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, firewalls, switching, routing) and enterprise systems administration.
- Experience leading or supporting IT infrastructure projects, including working directly with vendors and service providers.
- Strong background in Microsoft environments: Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 administration, and Azure cloud services.
- Familiarity with VMware virtualization platforms and enterprise storage solutions.
- Experience with cybersecurity monitoring and response tools such as Sophos, Darktrace, Arctic Wolf, or equivalent.
- Proven troubleshooting skills in complex tier 2–3 technical support scenarios.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, management, and external vendors.
The salary range for this position is $104,473 to $113,558.

The Law Society of BC supports hybrid work schedules. This position is located at the Law Society of British Columbia office in the Yaletown area of Vancouver, BC. It is expected that the successful candidate will be working in office 3 days a week.
