Nicole E. Smith elected as Bencher for Nanaimo County

The May 2025 Bencher by-election results are now available and Nicole E. Smith has been elected as Bencher for the County of Nanaimo.

Nicole was called to the bar in 2009 and is a partner at Ramsay Lampman Rhodes. Her work focuses on civil litigation, particularly injury and disability claims, and workplace investigations.

A Nanaimo resident for 25 years, Nicole is an active member in the community. She was secretary-treasurer for the Nanaimo County Bar for many years and was an elected representative to the Canadian Bar Association. She also assisted in coaching a University of Victoria moot team to three national championships before becoming Canada’s representative to the International Client Consultation Competition. 

Currently, she sits on the editorial boards of the Civil Trial Handbook and the Verdict. She is also a governor of the Trial Lawyers Association of BC. She has served on boards of the Nanaimo Child Development Centre and the Nanaimo Brain Injury Society. Outside of work, she enjoys most sports and travelling.
