The 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Law Society of British Columbia was held virtually on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Approximately 21% of the profession participated in the meeting, either by voting online in advance or during the meeting.

The business of the 2024 AGM included the following:

• Westminster County Bencher Thomas L. Spraggs was acclaimed as the Law Society of BC’s Second Vice-President for 2025. 
• Benchers’ report of proceedings since last meeting.
• Bencher Resolution 1: the Appointment of Law Society Auditors for 2024. The motion passed.

Of the 17,541 eligible voters, 3,223 (18.4%) voted on this resolution (18% in favour, 0.4% opposed) and 3% of the profession who participated recorded an abstention.

• Member Resolution 2 submitted by Jamie Maclaren, KC and Zackary Uganec. The motion passed.

Of the 17,541 eligible voters, 3,302 (19%) voted on this resolution (10% in favour, 9% opposed) and 2% of the profession abstained. 

• Member Resolution 3 submitted by James I. Heller and Mark T.K. Berry. The motion failed.

Of the 17,541 eligible voters, 3,182 (18%) voted on this resolution (8% in favour, 10% opposed) and 3% of the profession who participated recorded an abstention.

• Member Resolution 4 submitted by Jamie Maclaren, KC and Mariyah Ali-Costain. The motion passed.

Of the 17,541 eligible voters, 3,397 (19%) voted on this resolution (11% in favour, 8% opposed) and 2% of the profession who participated recorded an abstention.

• Member Resolution 5 submitted by Jay Michi and Daniel McNamee. The motion passed.

Of the 17,541 eligible voters, 3,021 (17%) voted on this resolution (11% in favour, 6% opposed) and 4% of the profession who participated recorded an abstention.
