BC lawyers who wish to be placed on file with the Ministry of Attorney General’s OIC Administration Office must first submit the required form to the Law Society for authentication.
More information for BC Lawyers about the BC Authentication Program can be found on their website at: Information for BC Lawyers and Notaries - Province of British Columbia, or contact them directly at: BCAuthentication@gov.bc.ca
To submit your request to the Law Society, follow the steps below.
STEP 1: Prepare your OIC form
Download the current version of the OIC form.
Complete all sections and fields (including your Member ID) on the form and ensure your form meets the following criteria to avoid delay in processing:
- Your signature must be in wet ink.
- The notarial seal must be affixed to the form. Impressed seals are required as label or sticker style seals will be rejected.
- The text on the seal, including the lawyer’s name, must be clearly visible. Illegible seals will be rejected by the OIC Administration Office.
Scan a copy of your completed OIC form in colour and high resolution (recommended: 400dpi or higher).
STEP 2: Submit your OIC form online
- Log into your Member Portal.
- Go to My Settings > Applications and click on the “OIC Form (BC Authentication Program)” link.
- Follow the prompts to upload your scanned copy of the OIC form and submit payment of $26.25 (GST included) by credit card.
A copy of the receipt will be sent to you in the order confirmation email. You may also retrieve the receipt from your Member Portal account under “View All Requests” in the “OIC Form (BC Authentication Program)” section.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Law Society Staff may perform an initial review upon receipt of your electronic submission. However, your request will remain as incomplete and will NOT be forwarded to the OIC Administration Office if the original printed copy is not received by the Law Society. It is important that you complete step 3 below in a timely manner.
STEP 3: Send the original printed OIC form to the Law Society
Deliver or drop off the original printed form to the Law Society:
Attention: Registration & Licensee Services

Processing time may be delayed if information is missing or unclear (e.g., the signature and/or the seal/stamp of the lawyer) or payment has not been made.
