2025 Bencher Elections: Notice of Acclamation

In these 2025 Bencher Elections, contested elections will be held in Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Westminster, Kootenay and Prince Rupert. 

Benchers declared continued without election or declared elected by acclamation

For Districts No. 4 (Westminster), No. 6 (Okanagan), No. 1 (Vancouver), No. 7 (Cariboo) and No. 9 (Kamloops).

Under Law Society Rule 1-5(4), the President, and First and Second Vice-Presidents continue to serve as Benchers without further election until completing their terms as President, thereby reducing the number of Benchers to be elected from the County of Westminster (District No. 4) from 3 to 2, from the District of Okanagan (District No. 6) from 1 to none, which means that an election is not required in this District, and from the County of Vancouver (District No. 1) from 13 to 12. The following Benchers are declared to continue in office without election:

  • District No. 4 (Westminster) – one fewer Bencher will be elected because 2026 PresidentThomas L. Spraggs, KC is from Westminster County.
  • District No. 6 (Okanagan) – no election will be held because 2026 First Vice-President Michael F. Welsh, KC is from the District of Okanagan.
  • District No. 1 (Vancouver) – one fewer Bencher will be elected because 2026 Second Vice-President Katrina Harry, KC is from Vancouver County.

Under Law Society Rule 1-24, the following candidates are elected by acclamation; accordingly no vote is required in these districts:

  • District No. 7 (Cariboo) – two to be elected: Benjamin Levine and Georges Rivard, KC
  • District No. 9 (Kamloops) – one to be elected: Jay Michi
