Kelowna lawyer Donald L. Wilkinson resigns after admitting professional misconduct

Kelowna lawyer Donald L. Wilkinson has resigned from the Law Society after admitting professional misconduct, effective March 23, 2026.

Wilkinson admitted in a consent agreement that while acting as executor and representing the estate of a client between 2020 and 2023, he misappropriated or improperly withdrew approximately $24,000 from trust, when he was not entitled to some or all those funds. He also misappropriated or improperly withdrew approximately $30,500 as trust cheques payable to his client, when he ought to have known that the client was not entitled to those funds.

In the agreement, Wilkinson admitted that he failed to provide the quality of service required of a competent lawyer and failed to properly supervise or improperly delegated duties to his legal assistant.

Having resigned as a result of disciplinary proceedings, Wilkinson will be subject to a mandatory credentials hearing if he applies for reinstatement in the future.
