Richmond lawyer Nicole Tam has agreed to pay a fine of $5,000 for professional misconduct.
Tam admitted in a consent agreement that in 2023 she failed to act with integrity and in good faith by deliberately withholding from two law firms that she was engaged in the practice of law simultaneously, as an associate at one firm and an independent contractor at the other firm, thereby preventing either firm from conducting checks to identify potential conflicts of interest.
In accepting the consent agreement, the Chair of the Discipline Committee considered an Agreed Statement of Facts, a letter from Tam and outcomes in other cases.
