Under Rule 2-76, a clerkship term of at least nine months qualifies as supervised experience. To be eligible for call and admission, you will need to successfully complete two other learning components:
- the training course; and
- the Law Society’s Practice Management Course: Rule 2-76.
The Practice Management Course
Within five business days after you have applied for call and admission and created your profile in the Member Portal, you will receive your Brightspace login credentials and will be able to access the Practice Management Course.
The course covers key practice management topics through online modules and takes about six (6) hours to complete.
You must certify your completion of the Practice Management Course through the Member Portal.
Completing an articling term in addition to clerking
Law clerks may choose to complete a period of articles before applying for call and admission. To do so:
- apply for enrolment as an articling student; and
- if you choose, apply for a reduction in the nine-month articling term based on time served as a law clerk.
