Abbotsford lawyer Kamaljit Singh Grewal fined $6,500 for professional misconduct

Abbotsford lawyer Kamaljit Singh Grewal has agreed to pay a fine of $6,500 for professional misconduct.

Grewal admitted in a consent agreement that between 2021 and 2024 he failed to provide the quality of service expected of a competent lawyer by not completing a share transfer within a reasonable time and by not providing his clients with complete information about a matter. He also failed to protect the interests of an unrepresented person by not urging them to obtain independent legal representation or making it clear that he was acting exclusively for his clients. 
 
 In accepting the consent agreement, the Chair of the Discipline Committee considered an Agreed Statement of Facts, a letter from Grewal and outcomes in prior cases.
