Improving mental health for legal professionals in BC is a key priority for the Law Society. The Lawyer Well-Being Hub provides a central access point for free information about support available to lawyers, articling students and their families, including counselling services and easy-to-access resources, tools and information.
In 2023, the Law Society introduced LifeSpeak in response to recommendations from the Mental Health Task Force, providing anonymous access to digital wellness resources. Due to upcoming platform changes that impact anonymous access, the platform will not be available after August 31, 2026.
Legal professionals can continue to access other mental health and well-being supports, including the Lawyers Assistance Program and TELUS Health.
TELUS Health provides confidential, free counselling and referral services to BC lawyers, articled students and their immediate families. Support is available for a range of personal and professional concerns, including stress, relationships, work, parenting, finances and health.
In addition to counselling and referral services, BC lawyers, articled students and their immediate families also have access to an extensive library of online well-being tools, information and resources, including over 8,000 articles, toolkits, podcasts, infographics and e-books through TELUS Health One. Many of these digital resources are accessible on an anonymous basis through a group access ID (see details in the Member Portal), with additional personalized resources available on a confidential basis if lawyers choose to create an individual profile on TELUS Health One.
