Articled students and their principals must prepare two joint reports to the Law Society:
- Mid-term report (for articling terms of six months or more)
- Final report
The reports provide information about the student’s progress towards entry-level competence and meeting the obligations of the Articling Agreement. Each report must be in the form of a letter signed by the principal and the student.
Mid-term report
The mid-term report is required for articling terms of six months or more and is due before the student has completed 60 percent of their articling term. There is no set form for the letter. However, Rule 2-61 says that it must include:
- a report on the student's progress to date in articles; and
- a plan for completing the remaining obligations under the Articling Agreement.
Submit the mid-term report to registration@lsbc.org with “Mid-term report” and the student’s name in the subject line.
Final report
The final report must certify that the principal and student have completed their obligations under the Articling Agreement: Rule 2-77(1)(a)(C).
Submit the final report at the end of the articling term to registration@lsbc.org or include it with the student’s application for call and admission.
